1990 Yamaha FZR 1000 $2500

This was a major milestone bike when it came out in 1989, breaking all kinds of speed and performance records. You can read this rather lengthy review if you like.

I bought the bike about two years ago. I didn't know much about the history of the FZR until i regularily had people come up and start talking to me about it when i was parking or filling up with gas.

I just had over $1500 worth of work done on it. It started off with a basic tune-up but ended up just telling the mechanic to fix anything that needed fixing so i could sell it in top condition. Along with valve adjustments, carb rebuilds, tank refurbish (sand-blased inside and clearcoated to prevent rust), fixed some leaks, replaced intake manifolds and . . . i'm probably fogetting some stuff. The only outstanding issue i didn't bother fixing is a leaky fork seal.

The previous owner gave me a box of parts he'd been meaning to install (some performance upgrades and replacement hands grips, brake pads and some other stuff). I'll be passing along that box of goodies as well.

Cosmetically, the bike's in great shape. Mechanically it's top notch. Runs smooth and fast. The guy that owned it before me put a lot of time and money into it. As a result, it has several high performance after-market components (like shocks and exhaust).

I'm selling it because i moved to Pacifica and never seem to ride it anymore in the fog.

I'm going to do an open house this saturday (aug 4th) between 10 and 2 - so please give me a call to get the address. It's just off the 280 - only about 10 minutes from the mission or noe valley.
